Beach House Waterfront Restaurant Sip, Eat, and Fun in a Waterfront Sunset

Atlantic Ave., Ponce Inlet, is a NASCAR-themed bar and grill with a beachfront deck, happy hour and entertainment. There aren’t many restaurants the same stunning space as the 18th floor Penthouse. Stationed in Santa Monica’s Huntley Hotel, the rooftop ensures a panoramic ocean view along with a raw bar, hand made pastas like the truffle cacio e pepe, and always a catch of the day. Neptune’s Net is a Malibu classic, tucked all the way up along the coast and perfect for weekend riders and beach-going families alike.

Happy hour food,

The Fish House's upscale dockside dining experience overlooking Pensacola Bay and Seville Harbor isn't one to be forgotten. Grab drinks and a view on The Deck, or head inside for elevated dining. Diners will find fresh, daily seafood, house-smoked meats and sushi. Ridgewood Ave., Port Orange, is the sister restaurant to Hidden Treasure Rum Bar and Grill in Ponce Inlet (see above). It's described as a laidback tavern with TVs and a close proximity to Rose Bay. While last month we published my list of the 10 best waterfront restaurants in Sarasota and Bradenton, I've recently concluded that our corner of the Gulf of Mexico features one spot I want to recommend this year for the best beach bar.

Best beach bar in Sarasota, Bradenton? My favorite for food, drinks, waterfront views!

While we love relaxing on our famous Florida beaches, we’re even bigger fans of enjoying the same warm and sunny setting while seated at a beach bar in our most casual attire. After all, there’s nothing better than enhancing that toes-in-the-sand experience with a tropical cocktail, fine wine, or ice-cold beer — perhaps paired with a delicious grouper sandwich or "cheeseburger in paradise." This harbor-side restaurant at San Pedro’s Ports O’ Call Village feels more like an outdoor block party than a traditional dining room. The boisterous crowd downs pitchers of beer and sips frozen margaritas, while mariachi music blares throughout the alfresco space.

Redondo Beach Crab House

Perched atop the romantic Malibu hillside, Geoffrey’s Malibu offers exquisite views of the Southern California coastline. The flower-filled patio that overlooks the Pacific offers an ideal spot for a romantic candlelit dinner or a weekend brunch with family and friends. One of the dinner specialties is the sautéed day-boat sea scallops, while a must-have during a weekend brunch is the sautéed crab cake. Offering sweeping ocean views from nearly every seat, the beautiful and luxurious restaurant attracts an elite clientele and makes you feel like you are enjoying a vacation under the beautiful Malibu sun.

Cocktails and fresh seafood taste that much better when dining with a 650ft view of the Gulf of Mexico. The segue to chill is not a water view but the blur of preserve land that’s part of Jonathan Dickinson State Park. For a few soothing miles, there are no strip plazas or other signs of big-city life. By the time you’ve reached the first glimmers of Hobe Sound, you’ve shifted into island mode.

SUNSET DINNER

Diners also can enjoy a selection of “Malibu Specials” including lobster sweet and sour, albacore with Meyer lemon, and mini tacos. Top your meal off with the bento box of warm chocolate soufflé cake and signature sakes and enjoy the beautiful views surrounding you. Shaggy’s Pensacola Beach is a laid-back waterfront bar and grill that offers a seafood-centric menu, frozen daiquiris, an extensive craft beer list and more. The island-style vibes offer waterfront views from every seat in the establishment.

Peninsula Drive, Ponce Inlet, is described as a laidback tavern with TVs and a close proximity to the lighthouse. The waterfront restaurant serves seafood, sandwiches, salads and other entrees and typically offers entertainment and happy hour. Right near the Manhattan Beach Pier is the family-owned and operated Rock’n Fish. The two-level space – with an enclosed outdoor patio, main dining room and bar, and upstairs loft – is known for fresh sea food, premium steaks, Kona pie dessert, and one of the prettiest back bars in LA. The menu comes courtesy of executive chef Antonio Urbano, who brings flair and a creative touch to enticing farm-to-table specials. While at the bar, don’t forget to try one of their legendary Navy Grog rum cocktails.

Paradise Bar & Grill is a popular hangout spot for locals to come out and enjoy live music with good food and a good drink. The award-winning bar is located just behind Paradise Inn on the Santa Rosa Sound, making it easily accessible by boat, car and foot. HiHo’s Marina del Rey location overlooks the water with casual indoor seating, along with burgers and a fried chicken sandwich collaboration with Willie Mae’s Scotch House from New Orleans. Always order the house made pies, and parking is available in the boardwalk lot. As summer approaches, SoCal beaches will be to be some of the most popular places to spend time solo, or with friends and family. With over 60 miles of coastline, LA’s beaches start north near Point Dume and Malibu, all go the way to Long Beach towards the south.

Even if you haven’t planned a beach day, you can soak up the salt air, the sun and surf. Whiskey Joe’s Bar and Grill opened its fifth location in Pensacola Beach last year. The restaurant has a mixture of beachfront and indoor seating, caters to people looking for a quick bite to eat with a carry-out window and you can even order online while you’re tanning in the sun on the sand.

When a bar's name makes it into a Jimmy Buffett song, you know it has to be pretty iconic. In his song "Bama Breeze," Buffett articulates the memories that took place in the "world famous" beach bar that straddles the Florida-Alabama state line. Open since 1973, Patrick’s Roadhouse is impossible to miss along PCH. Spot the leprechaun green building and pull-in for an all-day menu that showcases eggs with traditional or truffle hashbrowns, a fish burger, or ask for the dish (and story) behind Patrick’s regular Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Order a gift card to use at any of our restaurants - Sandbar, Beach House, and Mar Vista - or at Gamble Creek Farms, where you can pick up freshly grown local produce. Liz Balmaseda is a Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist for The Palm Beach Post, part of the USA Today Network. While they continue to sell imported wine and goods at Casa del Vino, they are serving multi-course dinners just about every night. The dinners, intimate affairs that tend to sell out quickly, are offered at the wine-crate table.
